History
The year is 2004. Over 100 new students begin on maritime school Kogtved.
To make access to information easy, schedules and more Simac (Svendborg International Maritime ACadamy) is using their website http://info2all.simac.dk which unfortunately does not prove particularly effective when the network at the school say the least, was slow. Although no less than two IT technicians at the school tried to solve the various problems, it was unfortunately never better, and we decided to download the information onto the school's local network, so users at the school could access them without having to worry about the network connections fluctuating stability. Info2us was a reality.
In the beginning it was a page which only was meant as a kind of bulletin board, were we could post some information, but as every student took pictures, we all wanted to share these. Therefore we quickly made a fairly extensive photo gallery, which today includes everything from general pictures from school for excursions, survival tours, practical experiences and more. The idea for this actually came to us in ancient times (as candidates for the school)we was not able to find many pictures from training, with the exception of a few back from 80''erne, and some very rosy advertising images. Finally we came up with the more experimental tipi-wiki (Wikipedia like) section that was purely a creation of our crazy (but in this case highly successful) fantasy. This section has since been closed because it no longer was used. As the half year on Kogtved came to an end, we were actually having a fairly well-developed website, which we finally decided to throw into the big Internet. And there has been so ever since, for (we hope) pleasure, for both current and future cadet. Quite quickly we came up with an idear about a blog, we could update only by email. Blogs should be about life at sea, and had written off the ship, with the possibility of images, if we came into an port. It should also be mentioned here that the ships only can send emails without attachments, so it was important to acces the blog, only by e-mail. We managed to have thrown an awful lot of code together, in an amazing short time, resulting in a blog which should stand on their own feet in the 5 months we were out sailing.
The Blog performed our first boat trip perfect. It was even famous once as they http://www.maersk-skibsofficer.dk/ chose to use the material which was written. - The joy lasted briefly because there were strict restrictions on what may be written so that the blog was password protected for over 3 months. When we got home from our first trip there wasn’t energy left, which unfortunately resulted in the info2us went to sleep for over 12 months. -The Monster has now woken up again and we try to update the gallery as often as possible, so the visitors can enjoy the extensive photo gallery.
The site changes a lot, as I’m a geek, and I like to play around a lot.
